I was having a conversation with a friend about the direction that Bloc Party is taking, and we both agreed that we didn't like it one bit. But it wasn't like me to give up on their newly released third album, 'Intimacy', after one listening. Through out the weekend, I have been more open minded about this album, at one point I was missing what Bloc Party was good at, Silent Alarm, eventually accepting change. I have realised that A Weekend At The City was a merely a prologue for this album and that this is what they were trying to achieve on their sophomore. Props to them for trying a new sound and I'm certain on their next album, they will achieve the vibe they had on Silent Alarm but with a new and refined sound. So in the mean time listen to this album and hear how much they've grown up.
